The Secret to Confident Piano Students
All right, so what’s the secret?
Every week, we meet with our students with the intent of increasing their talent and music reading ability, just a little bit.
Each of these sessions of getting “just a little bit” better adds up quickly. The students learn independence when practicing new material and quickly develop good habits in their playing.

Let me give you an example, this is Gemma (pictured below). We were able to take her playing to the next level in just 18 months.
She is now playing with both hands, playing in other keys, and has great confidence. She’s now been in several recitals and loves playing songs she’s learned for her family and grandparents.
The best part? She is a confident musician!

Here are just a few of our techniques (secrets) that work extremely well at producing confident and skilled pianists:
- Breaking every-thing-down to the musical elements so a song is easy to understand and digest.
- We look at patterns in the music, and little changes in the tone of the song, breaking the song into measures to quickly understand the concepts. This makes a challenging song much easier to play and master in a shorter amount of time.
- Focus on the challenging parts of the song and extract it to conquer it and add it back in. It’s simple…but effective.
Most kids don’t just fall into success with a musical instrument. It comes from dedication to music and a great instructor that can guide them and mold them into accomplished musicians.
