🎶 Week 4: How to Build a Great Practice Habit

Welcome to Week 4! Now that lessons are part of your weekly routine, it’s the perfect time to create a consistent and low-pressure practice habit at home.

The key isn’t long sessions—it’s short, focused practice tied to a daily routine your child (or you!) already follows.

🎥 Video 1: Habit Stacking – The Key to Daily Practice

📺 In this video, we’ll show you how to create a consistent practice habit by connecting it to something your student already does every day—like getting home from school.
Quick Recap from the Video:
  1. Choose a Trigger – Link practice to a daily routine (e.g., after breakfast or school)
  2. Track It – Use the checkboxes in the binder to mark completed days
  3. Reward It – Celebrate with something small (a snack, a game, extra screen time)
  4. Restart Quickly – Miss a day? No problem. Just pick it back up the next day!

🎥 Video 2: How Parents Can Support Practice at Home

📺 In this video, Paul shares practical strategies for keeping practice positive, productive, and motivating—even on tough days.

Highlights from the Video:
  • Set a regular time and quiet space for practice
  • Stay nearby to help your child feel accountable
  • Praise effort and progress (not perfection!)
  • Let them play for you or for a family member
  • Avoid using practice as punishment or criticizing mistakes
  • Be patient—progress is slower at first, and that’s totally normal
  • If your child seems stuck, we can help with games, videos, or new songs

💬 Need Help? If your student feels discouraged or stuck, we’ve got your back. Let us know, and we’ll send:
  • A video demo of their current song
  • A motivational song swap
  • Custom support to keep them moving forward
